Additional useful information

battleface provides travel benefits up to the policy limits, for destinations worldwide, including those under government “do not travel” advisories.

battleface policies include cover for medical expenses caused by or resulting from COVID-19 for travellers aged 59 or under. All valid claims will be paid up to the amount shown in your schedule of benefits and subject to the terms and conditions of the policy.

This benefit does not include cover in relation to COVID-19 expenses for trip cancellations, self-isolation, or lockdowns, so please check the local restrictions in your destination country before you travel.

To be an eligible Plan Participant, you must be:

  1. traveling outside of your home country;
  2. 1 month old or over on the date of travel and 79 years old or under when the trip, for which this insurance is purchased, finishes. If you are under age 18, you must travel with an insured person aged 18 or over; and
  3. enrolled as a member of or in a member organisation affiliated with the International Federation of Journalists, and in possession of valid membership documents which have been uploaded as evidence of membership.

We cover the cost of emergency evacuation to the nearest medical facility or medical repatriation to your home country. If your chosen destination is Ukraine, please note that due to the unique circumstances in Ukraine, we may not be able to organise your hospital admission. In this event, we will reimburse eligible expenses you have incurred.
You can add coverage for business equipment owned by or leased to you or for which you have a legal responsibility. It does not include personal mobile phones, personal tablets, personal laptops or any other personal possessions unless they are used primarily for work-related purposes. Please see the policy document for further information.
We cover the cost of burial or cremation locally or the cost of preparing and transporting remains home.
For bodily injury as a result of an accident during the trip which, within 12 months of the date of the accident, is the sole and direct cause of your death or loss of limb, loss of sight or permanent total disablement. Personal Accident benefits do not apply for any injury occurring while you are in Ukraine.
We strongly recommend that you provide your battleface policy and contact information to your employer, friends or family members. In case of an emergency, if you are not able to reach us, they can contact us 24/7:

Yes, travel medical insurance doesn’t cover everything. For example, we do not cover expenses associated with any Pre-Existing Conditions.

A Pre-Existing Condition includes:

  • A condition for which medical advice, diagnosis, care, or treatment (includes receiving services and supplies, consultations, diagnostic tests or prescription medicines) was recommended or received during twelve (12) months immediately preceding the Policy Inception Date;
  • A condition that had manifested itself in such a manner that would have caused a reasonably prudent person to seek medical advice, diagnosis, care, or treatment (includes receiving services and supplies, consultations, diagnostic tests or prescription medicines) within twelve (12) months immediately preceding the Policy Inception Date;
  • Injury, sickness, disease, or other physical, medical, mental, or nervous conditions, disorder or ailment (whether known or unknown) that, with reasonable medical certainty, existed at the time of completion of the Application Form or within twelve (12) months immediately preceding the Policy Inception Date. This is a partial list; please refer to our policy documents for a complete summary.

Due to sanctions restrictions imposed by the United Kingdom, European Union, Canada, United Nations and United States, it may not be possible for us to provide the full range of cover in one or more of the countries you plan to travel to. For more information please contact us via email at
